Vernon Steps Out (VSO) is an independent
walking program committed to motivating participants
to get active and make healthy living choices.
Join us as we walk across the Hawaiian Islands and add
a new dimension to your walking program. With access
to the VSO website you can track your steps in a fun and
interactive way and learn information on healthy living.
What does the VSO package include?
- a free high quality pedometer
access to the VSO website where you can log-in your steps
information on upcoming events such as hosted walks, lectures, workshops, and
community green initiatives
free or discounted registration to Vernon Steps Out speakers, workshops, seminars
and programs
- qualify for a chance to win $1,000 travel voucher with every 100,000 steps
walked, courtesy of Edis Computers

Recreation Services is hiking the Okanagan Valley with STEPS OUT
The Steps Out program is offering a guided hike in communities throughout the Okanagan. Take advantage of this great opportunity to meet new people, discover hidden secrets of each community and expand your list of hikes to conquer. A moderate 2-3 hour hike through the beautiful hidden valley of Cougar Canyon located on the south side of Vernon overlooking Kalamalka Lake. Bring your camera for great views and watch rock climbers scaling the cliff s. Meet at Tim Hortons across from Polson Park.

Strollersize takes traditional
walking or jogging
with a stroller
and incorporates cardio
drills, body resistance
exercises,
core work and resistance
band exercises
along the way. Low
impact and intensity
modifications are
always provided. Please
bring a mat, water and towel
to this class. Moms and dads as
well as babies of any age are welcome, as long as baby is happy
in the stroller.
Location: Wesbild, Great Room, but we will try to be outside at
Polson Park as long as possible.

Fitness Instructor Cindy Garvin:
Cindy started her career as a fitness professional in 1984 with a Certificate in Health & Fitness Studies
at Simon Fraser University. She followed this up with certifications in Aquatic Fitness, Weight Training
and Personal Training. In 1995 Cindy started to take specialty training for special populations
and rehabilitation. She has taken training with BC GF Strong Centre, BC Arthritis Foundation and The
Aquatic Therapy Rehab Institute. Cindy's specialty is now Aquatic Therapy and Core Stability training.
She also enjoys working with Paralympic athletes. In her spare time Cindy can be found on one of her
five bicycles or making jewelry for her web site. |
