General Interest

Babysitting Certification Course 12-15yrs
Canadian Safety Council The Babysitters Training Course provides the knowledge and skills needed to become a responsible babysitter. The program is designed for students 12 years of age and up who are willing to dedicate 10 hours of their time to receive certifi cation as a trained babysitter. Participants will learn fi rst aid, fi re safety, child care tips, prevention and how to be a responsible babysitter. A trip to the firehall will be planned.

Home Safe 8-11yrs
Learn the basics of being safe at home. Designed for kids who spend short periods of time home alone, our Home Safe Course includes topics such as phone precautions, first-aid and emergency procedures.

Youth Triathlon Club 9-13yrs
Triathlon fosters a balanced, whole body approach to fitness with cycling, running and swimming. With this course focused on youth, instructor Kim Young will lead the group through all the disciplines of triathlon training in a non-competitive and fun atmosphere. The course will end with a fun triathlon. Participants must be able to swim 25m and have their own working multi-speed bike. A detailed schedule will be provided on the fi rst day, come prepared to swim and run.

Floor Hockey 7-12yrs
Join us for some active fun. Our floor hockey program is a great way to burn off extra energy and enjoy a team sport in a fun environment. We provide the supervision and equipment; you supply the energy and desire to have fun!

Active Afterschool 7-12yrs
Have a chance to learn and play various sports in a non-competitive environment. This is a great way to end the school day and meet new people. Some of the activities may include: badminton, basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey, Kidz fitness training, soccer and volleyball.

BUSSING for Active Afterschool & Sport ABC

With the funding grant provided by the Goodlife Kids Foundation, the support of SD#22, PacificSport and the City of Vernon we are able to provide a free bus service from some schools to the Recreation Centre. Bus and the program need to be registered for separately. Please provide the school name when registering for the bussing option, schedule is as follows:

Remember that good classes are sometimes cancelled because people wait until the last minute to register. Programmers usually decide whether to run a program at least one week in advance of the start date. Let us know you are coming by registering.

Greater Vernon KidSportGreater Vernon KidSport and Canadian Tire JumpStart were created to help overcome economic obstacles that prevent some young people from participating in organized sports, by providing kids ages 1-18 with funding assistance to access sport opportunities and experiences.
